Plan to promote science, professional education : Pachouri

Chandigarh, Aug 18 (UNI) The Central Government plans to promote science and professional education in the country, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri said today.

He was inaugurating the Academic Block-I of University Institute of Engineering and Technology at Panjab Univeristy South Campus here today.

The Minister shared the Prime Minister's sentiments and vision on the completion of 60 years of India's Independence that the country had recorded remarkable achievements in educational sector, in the field of information technology and economic growth.

He said the Government has plans to give further fillip by providing more opportunities to promote science and professional education. The Central Government, he said, will be setting up more institutes on the pattern of IIMs, science laboratories and central universities. He assured of his whole-hearted support to the Panjab University.

The Minister planted saplings and gave prizes to the meritorious students of the Institute on the occasion.

The Block-I has eight lecture theatres, laboratories, fully- functional workshops, faculty rooms, library and other facilities such as state- of-art computer facilities, independent broad band internet connectivity, campus connect programme comprising Faculty Training in Industry, Project Guidance to students, curricula inputs, industry perspective of teaching-learning and expert lecture inputs.
