Novel protest against Palakkad rail bifurcation
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 18 (UNI) In a bid to draw the attention of higher authorities, including Central Ministers and MPs from Kerala, members of a voluntary organisation in Kottayam district resorted to a novel protest by tying 'loincloth' on neck at Pala in Kottayam district today.
In a statement here, Mahatma Gandhi National Foundation (MGNF) Chairman Ebi J Jose said tying of 'koupeenam' (loincloth) on neck was organised to 'shame' the Central Ministers and MPs from the state and to protest against their apathy in the issue of bifurcation of Palakkad Railway Division.
Mr Jose alleged that the representatives from Kerala had ''miserably'' failed in getting the share due to the state.
There was no point in blaming Minister of State for Railways R Velu. Instead he should be appreciated for taking action in getting the due share for his state, he said, and added that the representatives from the state should take Mr Velu as a role model in this regard.
