Jewellery shop looted in Sangli

Sangli, (Mah), Aug 18 (UNI) A gang of 15 dacoits with arms and weapons entered in a jewellery shop and fled with ornaments in tune of Rs 20 lakh in Palus tehsil in this district.

The incident occurred yesterday, when Santosh Kheradkar, the owner of the jewellery shop located at the Palus-Karad road, was about to close the shop, police said.

Santosh and two others were injured when they unsuccessfuly tried to oppose the dacoits.

Sangli District Superintendent of Police Krashna Prakash rushed to the site and the police machinery swung into immediate investigative action.

Police have succeeded in arresting two dacoits near Dadari in Valva tehsil of this district today morning, both of them are from Madhya Pradesh.
