Irate mob ransack hospital following infant's death

Barrackpore, Aug 18 (UNI) The Panihati villagers in North 24 Parganas today ransacked state general hospital superintendent's office over the death of an infant following a doctor's alleged negligence.

The incident occurred after the parents of the two and half-year old parents alleged that their son died soon after a medicine was injected by the doctor.

However, the medical officer said the baby was brought dead.

But the parents said they brought their child to the hospital as he was suffering from stomach ailment.

Demanding a post mortem of the child, the irate members have lodged an FIR in the Ghola police station.

Police said they are investigating the matter to ascertain the real cause of the death.
