Indo-US Nuclear pact in country's welfare

Chhindwara, MP, Aug 18 (UNI) Taking a dig at political parties opposing the Indo-US Nuclear pact, Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today said the deal would help the country to generate additional 50,000 MW power.

''Nuclear power is only alternative to conventional power,'' Mr Kamal Nath told reporters here today.

Pointing out that there was much need for power in the country, he said the agreement was in the welfare of the country.

On next Madhya Pradesh assembly election to be fought under his leadership, the regional MP said he would accept any responsibility handed over to him by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

He said two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) had been approved for Chhindwara region. Procedure was underway for its implementation.

Besides, a 'knowledge centre' was starting here tomorrow.
