Father kills son for not responding to wake up call

Hoshiarpur, Aug 18 (UNI) A father killed his nine-year-old son for not responding to his wake up call this morning in Bassi Hasat Khan village of this district.

SP Opinderjit Singh Ghuman said that Joginder Singh had called his son Gurjit Singh to wake up at about 0630 hrs and then went outside the house to milk the goats.

When Gurjit Singh did not wake up despite repeated calls by his father, an enraged Joginder Singh threw a wedge towards him as he slept in the room.

The wedge hit the throat of the boy, slitting it partially. As Gurjit began bleeding profusely, Joginder Singh fled from the scene.

Gurjit died after some time.

Rajwant Kaur, mother of the deceased child, informed the police who took the body in its custody and sent it to the local Civil Hospital for postmortem.

Joginder Singh had been arrested and a case under section 304 of the IPC booked against him, the SP said.
