Badal orders strict action against Truck stand scam culprits
Chandigarh Aug 18 (UNI) Taking a serious note of a reported case of corruption in the construction of truck stand by Municipal Committee, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ordered strict action against the erring officials and the contractors here.
According to a spokesman of Punjab Government, embezzlement of Rs 93.73 lakh had come to the light causing a huge loss to the state exchequer in construction of the truck stand.
It was found during the probe that there was 13 per cent to 34.34 per cent shortfall in use of material in comparison to the required specifications.
The Chief Minister has directed the Local Government Department to report compliance within a month on the action taken against contractors and the government officials.
