Andaman to observe Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary

Port Blair, Aug 18 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Administration will observe the birth anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi on August 20 as 'Sadbhavna Diwas'.

Officer Incharge of Andaman Information and Publicity Unit V K Mishra here today said the theme of the Sadbhavna Diwas would be to promote national integration and communal harmony among people of all religions, languages and regions.

''Sadbhavana Diwas is observed to inculcate goodwill towards everyone and eschewing violence,'' Mr Mishra said.

Various cultural programmes will be organised during the communal harmony fortnight celebrations beginning from August 20 and concluding on September three.

''Sadbhavana pledge will be administered on August 20 to all employees of the concerned departments,'' Mr Mishra added.

Meanwhile, the Congress unit of Andaman and Nicobar Islands also decided to celebrate the 63rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, party sources said.
