6 cong workers sentenced to 6 yrs imprisonment
Agartala, Aug 18: Belonia sub-divisional court of South Tripura has sentenced six Congress activists to six years imprisonment.
Official sources here today said the court yesterday sentenced the convicts for attempting to murder six CPI(M) workers during Assembly elections in 2003.
Giving the verdict, the court said the persons were found guilty of posing a threat to the life of the CPI(M) workers and physically assaulting their political opponents.
Altogether 19 persons were accused, of which, the court relieved 13 persons, official sources added.
