Punjab govt constitutes committee for central assistance

Chandigarh, Aug 17 (UNI) The Punjab Government has constituted a Grant-in-Aid Committee for recommending cases of NGOs to the central government for financial assistance.

The Committee has been constituted by the state Social Security and Development of Women and Children Department. The guidelines for formation of the Committee are as per the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Secretary, (Social Security), Jagpal Singh Sandhu said that the constituted Committee will be headed by Principal Secretary, Social Security, Women and Child Development department, while the Chairperson. Principal Secretaries of Health and Family Welfare and Rural Development and Panchayats would be the other two members.

Giving details about other members, Mr Sandhu said that three experts/reputed NGOs from the state would be nominated by the Chairperson as members and their term would for an year each. The Director of the Social Security Women and Child Development would be the Member Secretary of the Committee.
