NGOs on Vigilance net for misappropriating MP and MLA LAD funds

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17 (UNI) Three NGOs have been taken to task by the Orissa Vigilance, for misappropriating the MP and MLA LAD funds in connivance with government officials.

The Vigilance department registered three cases against the NGOs during a surprise check on August 15, after an inquiry was initiated on the execution of road works in Kendrapada district.

Vigilance sources here today said the case was registered against Marshaghai Block Assistant Engineer Rabinarayan Nayak, Engineer-in-charge Rabindra Kumar Nayak and Varat NGO secretary Nabakishore Mishra for allegedly swindling Rs 1.18 lakh.

In another case, secretary of Rohini NGO Debasis Swain and Engineer-in-charge Gobardhan Rout besides Assistant Engineer Narayan Nayak of Marshaghai Block were booked for allegedly swindling Rs 1.83 lakh.

The Vigilance department had also registered a third case against secretary Govinda Chandra Nayak and Junior Engineer Girish Kumar Sahu of Anchalika Gramya Unayana Parisad (AGUP) and Kendrapada Municipal Engineer Duryodhan Patel for allegedly swindling Rs 3.12 lakh, sources added.
