Mumbai, Aug 17 (UNI) NGO Nirbhay Bano Andolan has demanded dismissal and prosecution of police personnel who allegedly acted in a partisan manner during the 1992-93 riots in Mumbai following the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

The NGO has also demanded fresh investigations into the riot cases and has urged citizens to come forward to record their statements.

Police personnel, who had registered false cases against the minority community or against innocent persons in order to protect either themselves or other guilty police personnels, should be booked, the NGO demanded.

All the 'A' Summary cases which were closed should be immediately reopened. The police stations, which were most affected during the riots, should constitute an independent team headed by a deputy commissioner of police, it said.

In the 1992-93 riots, over 900 people were killed and property worth several lakhs of rupees was damaged.
