Monsoon plays truant in Haryana, Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Aug 17 (UNI) Monsoon played a truant in Haryana and Chandigarh as sultry weather conditions prevailed in the plains even as parts of Himachal Pradesh had rain today.
Hot and humid weather conditions prevailed at most places in Haryana where a partly cloudy day is expected tomorrow, according to the Weather Office here.
Light to moderate rain lashed some areas in Punjab with Ludhiana receiving 15.4 mm and Shahpur Kandi 7.4 mm rainfall till 0830 hours. The holy city of Amritsar also recorded 4.0 mm donwpour.
Although many areas in Himachal Pradesh went dry, certain areas in Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts received rainfall.
Sujanpur Tira with 27.0 mm rain was the wettest place in the state. Guler, Nagrota Surian, Pandoh, Sundernagar, Bhang-Manali, Kheri, Kasol and Suni also experienced downpour. The capital town of Shimla recorded 0.7 mm rainfall overnight.
Hot and humid weather conditions prevailed in Chandigarh and adjoining areas of Punjab and Haryana in the absence of rain.
The Met office predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab during the next 24 hours.
