Japanese business leaders to visit India on Aug 21-22

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) A day after the Indian government cleared the 90-100 billion dollar Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, the Commerce Ministry today announced a visit of a high-level Japanese business delegation to the country on August 21-22 for an interface with Indian business and industry organisations to finetune the ambitious project.

Slated to come alongside the 1,483 km Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) between two metro cities, offering high speed connectivity for high axle load wagons, the industrial corridor would have a depth of 150 km on either side of the DFC.

Comprising of top honchos of Japanese business and industry, the delegation will participate in business meetings being organised by the Industry Association, Chambers of Commerce in coordination with the Department of Industrial Policy&Promotion of the Commerce Ministry, an official statement said today.

The visit by Japanese delegation comes a week ahead of their Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to India on Augusy 22. He would address a joint sitting of Parliament.

The industrial corridor project had been announced during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Japan in December last year.

Japanese delegation leader Fujio Mitarai along with presidents of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Associated Chamber of Commerce&Industry (Assocham) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce&Industry (FICCI) would be participating in the preliminary discussions with Commerce Minister Kamal Nath on August 21. Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry vice minister Toyoda would be addressing the Indian industry on his government's efforts to support Japanese business at the inaugural session of India-Japan Business Seminar on August 22, the statement said, adding Mr Kamal Nath would be inaugurating the Business Leaders Forum the same day.

Representatives of Nippon, Canon, Toyota, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Suzuki, Japan Airlines, Japan Chamber of Commerce&Industry, Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Mitsubishi, Matsushita Electric Industrial Company are expected in the delegation. UNI
