Gang of thieves beat up six persons in Haryana

Jagadhri, Aug 17 (UNI) A group of thieves armed with rods and 'lathis' beat up and grieviously injured six members of two families before decamping with household valuables and cash in Ratauli village in Yamunanagar district last night, police today claimed.

According to the police, the gang first entered the house of Surinder Singh and immediately attacked the sleeping family members.

Besides Surinder Singh, his wife Surjit Kaur, son Rajinder and daughter Dalwinder sustained head injuries in the assault. After injuring the family members, the gang looted cash and valuables from the house.

The thieves then went to the residence of Jagjit Singh and ransacked his house. Jagjit and his wife were injured when they tried to resist the attackers.

All the injured had been admitted to the civil hospital here.

The police has registered a case but no arrests had been made so far.
