Ranchi, Aug 17 (UNI) The Opposition today took the battle of the FJCCI to the Assembly decrying alleged failure of the UPA government in delivering goods even as business establishements all over Jharkhand remained closed in support of their seven-point charter of demands.

The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) demands mainly include announcement of rehabilitation and industrial policy and simplification of Value Added Tax (VAT) in the state.

As Speaker Alamgir Alam was about to begin the proceedings of the House on the first day of the week-long monsoon session, the NDA-led Opposition rose to their feet raising slogans accusing the Madhu Koda government of failing to manage financial matters and demanded a discussion on it.

Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda (BJP) said the business communities were not feeling secure and inefficiency of the present government have worsened the condition of the economy.

However, the Speaker assured the members that the matter would be allowed for discusion during the session, but not today.

Outside the House, federation members holding banners were standing on the road ,leading the Assembly premises as mark of protest.

The organisation owing allegiance to FJCCI supported the '' Jharkhand bandh''called by the Federation.

FJCCI president Arun Kumar Budhia told UNI that bandh had been called to draw the attention of the state government, which had turned a deaf ear on their pending demands including abolistion of the Krishi Bazar Samities and making conducive atmosphere for the industrialists interested in investment in the state.

'' Earlier we had decided to go for social boycott of politicians but that tactics did not prove to be effective....'', Mr Budhia added.

Meanwhile, essential services including medicine shops and schools were kept out of purview of bandh.

Jharkhand Small Industries Association president Bikas Singh said present agitation was an outcome of people's anger addding they would keep on pressurizing the government through these agitations if the government fails to fulfill their demands.

Reports from Dumka, Bokaro, Giridih, Chatra and other districts said commercial activities came to a halt in those areas.
