Dawood's building need not be demolished: Architects
Mumbai, Aug 17 (UNI) The Bombay High Court-appointed architects today informed a single judge bench that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's building on Pakmodia street in the city was in repairable condition and the structure need not be demolished in terms of notices issued by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
After hearing their opinion about present condition of the building, part of which had been seized by the CBI, Justice Abhay Oak directed the court appointed architects to submit repair estimates by August 31.
In the wake of corporation's notices to demolish the deteroriated building, the court had directed the architects to visit the building and submit their report about its present status.
Accordingly, Nadkarni and Company filed a report in the court saying that though the building was in a dilapidated condition, it can be repaired.
Justice Oak has now directed the architects to submit repair estimates by August 31. Despite court's orders to maintain the status quo, the corporation on May 17 issued notices to Haji Ismail Haji Musafirkhana Trust to demolish the dilapidated building.
