Criminal, who fled from police custody, held

Hardoi, Aug 17 (UNI) Police has arrested a hardened criminal here, who had escaped from police custody while being taken for a court hearing in the state capital.

On August 13, Chandrabhan, booked under Gangster Act, had hoodwinked the cops and absconded, while being brought from Lakhimpur Kheri to Lucknow.

Later, a case was registered against 11 policemen, of which seven were also arrested.

Acting on a tip-off, police appreahended him from the Pihani area, after a brief exchange of fire.
