CPI(M), TDP demand construction of houses for poor
Vijayawada, Aug 17 (UNI) The city unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today held protests in a novel way demanding construction of houses for the poor people at Rajarajeswaripet here.
The CPI(M) activists tonsured their head, while the TDP leaders, led by Urban Unit President Gadde Ramamohan offered 'Pinda Pradanam' (wretched food) against Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, State Ministers Koneru Ranga Rao, Bosta Satyanarayana, J C Diwakar Reddy and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.
Both the parties strongly criticised the government for not fulfilling its promise of constructing houses for the poor even though it had completed three years in office.
Meanwhile, City Congress President Pyala Somi Naidu condemned the act of the two parties.
