Cabinet approves appointment of teachers

Dharwad, Aug 17 (UNI) Cabinet has approved for temporary appointment of retired teachers to teach in the pre-university colleges in the state for which Rs 10 crore has been released, Primary and Higher secondary minister B S Horatti said here today.

Mr Horatti told newsmen that the appointment of 1,700 teachers of pre-University colleges was withheld but temporary retired teachers would teach the pre University students.

The minister said the applications for fresh appointments of 8000 primary and 3000 higher secondary teachers were available in DDRI offices in the state.

He said Rs 19 crore has been sanctioned for building 632 houses for teachers in rural areas during this year which would be built by Rajeev Gandhi Housing Company.
