Businessman, teacher arrested for sheltering top Jaish ultra

Jammu, Aug 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested a businessman and a teacher for providing shelter to self-styled operational chief of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Saif Ullah Qarri, who was killed on August 11 at Jammu, official sources said.

Physical education teacher Javed Khan, alias Javed Master, and a businessman in Saudi Arab Abdul Rehman had provided shelter to Qarri at their residences at Poonch and Jammu city, sources said.

Ten militants were living together at Javed's house, police said, adding that no weapons or explosives were, however, recovered from the hideouts.

''Rehman's wife Beghum Maqsooda Khatoon, relative Arif Khan and Arif's 20-year-old sister, besides injured JeM militant Zaffar Chowdary have already been taken in custody after the encounter. Now we are searching for Qarri's wife Sajra Begum, who may be in Poonch or Jammu,'' a senior police official said.

The Delhi police and J&K police had gunned down Qarri on August 11 at Rehman's house in Ramzan Pura Mohalla under Janipur police station where he had been living for past one month.

Qarri had masterminded the Ayodhya attack and terror plots in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere in the country.
