Tusks worth about Rs 1.20 lakh seized, 4 nabbed

Kolhapur, Aug 16 (UNI) Four persons were arrested and ivory worth about Rs 1.20 lakh seized from them today at village Kurukali of this district.

Acting on a tip-off that elephant tusks were being sold illegally on the Kurukali-Bhogawati road, police laid a trap and arrested Ajit Mohan Patil, Govind Shripati Pharakte, Sunil Pandurang Chaugule and Ananda Shivaji Rahatol, all from nearby village, in this connection, District Superintendent of Police Sukhwindar Singh told reporters here.

The weight of the seized ivory was about eight kg, he added.
