Sheila Dikshit gives Radha Raman awards
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Eminent personalities and organisations from the fields of public service, journalism, social service and art and culture were today honoured with the Radha Raman awards for 2007 for outstanding contributions to the life and people of Delhi in their respective fields.
Journalists Ashwini Kumar and Vijaya Shankar Chaturvedi, medicos Meenu Gupta and Kuljit Singh Anand, theatreperson Arvind Gaur and sportsperson Sudarshan Pathak were given the awards by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at a function here this evening.
While the Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya and the late Pt Vinaya Chandra Maudgalya were given the award in the field of Art and Culture (Music), the award for Art and culture (Theatre) was given to Mr Arvind Gaur, the award for journalism to Mr Ashwini Kumar of Punjab Kesri, social service and journalism to Vijaya Shankar Chaturvedi and Public Service to the late Mr Brij Mohan posthumously.
Mr Ramesh Dutta and the Nehru Brigade got the award in the category of public service, Mr D S Negi (IAS) for public administration, Mr Sudarshan Pathak for sports, Dr Meeni Gupta and Dr Kuljit Singh Anand for medicine and Mr Zutshi Gulzar Dehelvi for secular culture and Urdu.
The award ceremony, held on the occasion of the 103th birth anniversary of prominent freedom fighter and former MP Radha Raman, also saw a cultural presentation by students.
