Railways identify 100 sites for low cost budget hotels

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) The Railways have decided to set up 100 budget hotels across its network, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today told the Lok Sabha.

The hotels will be set up on public private partnership by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), he said, in a written reply.

He said out of the identified hundred budget hotel sites, tenders for 20 sites have been finalised and awarded to successful bidders by IRCTC. Tenders for nine sites have been floated by IRCTC on early February and are under finalisation for the remaining 71 sites.

The Railway Minister said the quantum of investment for the budget hotels varies according to size, total room strength and location of the hotel, but on an average the investment is expected to be Rs 20 crores per hotel. No target time has been fixed for completion of these budget hotels.
