Punjab Cabinet approves 210 acres for Knowledge City in Mohali
Chandigarh, Aug 16 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today approved the transfer of 210 acres of land in Mohali for the ambitious 'Knowledge City' project to be undertaken with central government assistance.
Three national levels institutes----Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, National Institute of Nanotechnology and National Institute of Agri-Food Biotechnology would be set up in this 'Knowledge City'.
The central government had already granted its approval for the three institutes for Punjab. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had himself announced the setting up of the third IISER in the country at Mohali last year.
This important decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here this evening.
