Nagpur police Crime Branch gets ISO 9001:2000 certification
Nagpur, Aug 16 (UNI) The Crime Branch of the Nagpur City Police has become the first in Maharashtra to get the ISO 9001:2000 certification.
The certificate of accreditation was presented to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) B K Upadhyay, who heads the unit, by International Certification Services (Asia) Station Manager Manish Wath in the presence of Commissioner of Police S P Singh at a brief ceremony here today.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Upadhyay said that his unit has introduced an efficient system of file storage and retrieval as a result of the certification. Nearly two truckloads of outdated and useless papers have been disposed of during the process.
''The Crime Branch here is the first in Maharashtra to obtain the certification, although several police stations in the state had obtained it earlier,'' Mr Upadhyay added.
Mr Singh expressed the hope that the certification would encourage the staff in the Crime Branch as well as in the other units of the force to perform better and in a more efficient manner.
