Mullana asserts his supremacy in party affairs

Karnal, Aug 16 (UNI) Newly-appointed state Congress president Phool Chand Mullana today said his writ would run in the affairs of the party.

Sitting besides working president Kuldeep Sharma, he said as president he would take all the decisions. "Kuldeep has been made working president to help me in my work", he added.

He was addressing a press conference here after addressing a workers' meeting here today.

To a question, Mr Mullana said their elevation to the posts had nothing to do with the concept of social engineering as adopted by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati in that state.

These kind of things had long been the basis of the Congress, he said.

He feigned his ignorance on the resignation of block level workers from Congress and their joining hands with Mr Kuldeep Bishnoi. "if at all they have joined hands with him and his father, Mr Bhajan Lal, they are still in the Congress as the father-son duo", he said.

On the incident involving Finance Minister Birender Singh at Kaithal yesterday where he remained seatless for a while, Mr Mullana said it should not be blown out of proportion. Nothing unsavoury had happened as he himself was present there, he added.
