Minister warns non-performing govt schools
Dharwad, Karnataka, Aug 16 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj Horatti today warned of stern action against government secondary schools which did not show a minimum of 40 per cent results in SSLC examinations from next academic year.
Addressing a gathering after presenting awards to headmasters of 81 secondary schools in Dharwad, Haveri and Uttar Kannada Districts for achieving 100 per cent results in March 2007 examination here, he said about 600 secondary schools had recorded 100 per cent results last year. This year, the number had gone up to 769.
Mr Horatti called upon the teachers to work wholeheartedly as the government had solved 90 per cent of their problems.
The government had decided to implement centralized education system in the state and a record amount of Rs 6,669.70 crore was earmarked for Education Department this year.
The Minister also disclosed that an ''Admission Policy'' was in the offing under the guidance of an committee comprising retired officials and education experts.
