MCD formulates scheme for street vendors/squatters

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has framed a scheme for implementation of National Policy on Urban Street Vendors in compliance of directions of the Supreme Court.

The scheme has been framed under the National Policy on Urban Street Vendors-2004 and in compliance of directions of the Supreme court of India in IA No. 394 in IA No. 356 in WP(C)1699/87 titled Sudhir Madan and Others Vs. MCD and others, an MCD spokesperson said.

The application format as well as the Scheme containing the salient features of Squatting/Vending/Weekly Bazaars and the eligibility conditions are available on the Website of the MCD. www.mcdonline.gov.in.

Applicants to the scheme can submit the application form in the requisite format with two passport size photographs and an Affidavit in respect of age, economic condition of the applicant and his status (Handicapped, Widow, War-widow, dependent of deceased MCD employee, existing tehbazari) and other documentary proof alongwith processing charges of Rs 100 by September 16 at the Citizen Crevice Bureaus (CSBs) of concerned Zonal Office of the MCD under which they reside.

All existing squatters/hawkers are also required to apply under the present scheme, the spokesperson said.

Physically handicapped persons, who have already applied for allotment of PCO Booths and who have been allotted priority number at the Zonal level, need not apply again, he said.

Such persons, however, have been asked to check their record in the respective Zone under the jurisdiction where they are residing.

Those who have not been given any priority number may apply afresh.
