Lt Gov calls for involvement of beneficiaries of housing project
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna today called for beneficiaries of low-cost housing projects to be involved in decision-making process for the selection of their habitations.
Mr Khanna inspected the Low Cost Housing Project at Bawana and saw the houses constructed by DSIIDC for industrial workers.
The engineers showed him the sample houses, employing both conventional and monolithic technology.
Addressing officers in the Bawana Industrial Complex, Mr Khanna expressed his satisfaction with the quality of construction and also the overall design and layout of the houses.
''The beneficiaries should be shown the houses in which they were supposed to live,'' he advocated.
Directing DSIIDC to explore the possibility of construction of such houses within the existing slum complexes so that the beneficiaries can stay near the source of their livelihood, he urged the officers to ensure that the industrial estates are maintained as per global standards. ''The houses should be as spic and span as those in Singapore,'' he said.
He appreciated DSIIDC for providing quality houses to the lowest strata of society and called for a suitable mechanism for the future maintenance of these houses.
