Literary meet on Dr Bhoyi Bhimanna begins in Tirupathi

Tirupati, Aug 16 (UNI) The two-day literary meet on Dr Bhoyi Bhimanna, organised jointly by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University and Sri Venkateswara University, began here today.

In his key note address, Sri Krishna Devaraya University Professor R Chandrashekar Reddy said the future of Telugu literature was in doubt as the authorities were not giving due preference to it.

He alleged that the private colleges were promoting English language, neglecting Telugu.

Potti Sriramulu Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Manjulatha said the University had decided to conduct four literary meets this year.

The University was contemplating to translate Bhimanna's manuscripts to first in English and Hindi in a phased manner.

A web-site on Bhimanna would be created shortly, she added.
