Husband gets life-term for killing wife

Patna, Aug 16 (UNI) A fast track court here today sentenced a person to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 for killing his wife.

Fast track court judge Omprakash found Mushtaque Aalam guilty of burning his wife Yasmin Khatoon to death at his residence near Shahgunj Dargah under Sultangunj police station area here.

According to charges, Mustaq poured kerosene on Yasmin and set her ablaze after she failed to fulfill his demands of paying him Rs 20,000. She was supposed to pay up the amount as dowry by March 20,1996.

She succumbed to injures during her treatment at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on June 30,1996.
