Haryana plans Rs 1217 cr irrigation projects: Hooda

Chandigarh, Aug 16 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that 12 irrigation projects costing Rs 1217 crore had been sent to the Central government for approval.

These projects were aimed at providing irrigation water on additional 2.38 lakh hectares of land in the state during the next four years, Mr Hooda said while inspecting the ongoing construction work of BML Hansi-Butana Canal at Pundri.

Expressing satisfaction on the progress of work on this canal so far, the Chief Minister directed the officers to complete the canal within the timeframe.

He said more than 70 per cent work of the canal had already been completed and an amount of about Rs 259 crore were expected to be spent on the project.

He said on completion of the project, farmers of 16 districts of the state would get irrigation water from the canal.
