Gujarat CM calls on President, Vice-President
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi called on President Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan today and apprised her of the developmental activities being undertaken by his government in the western state.
A Gujarat government official described the meeting, which lasted half an hour, as a courtesy call by Mr Modi to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Greeting the President, the chief minister apprised her at length of the developmental activities being carried out by the state Government.
In particular, he informed her about the new heights attained by the state in the agricultural sector, which had generated an income of over Rs 34,000 crore per annum as compared to Rs 9,000 crore earlier.
Mr Modi also talked about the remarkable work done by the state government in the water harvesting sector and provision of round the clock electricity to its villages.
The chief minister also extended an invitation to the President to visit Gujarat, the land of Mahatma Gandhi.
Later in the day, he called on Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari at Haryana Bhavan and discussed the developmental issues with him at length. He also invited the Vice-President to visit Gujarat.
