Gram sevak booked for insulting national flag

Kolhapur, Aug 16 (UNI) A village gram sevak has been booked by Hupari police for allegedly insulting the national flag, during independence day celebrations.

Annasaheb Balu Kumbhar is working as gram sevak with Pattan- Kodolee village grampanchayat in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district, police said here today.

On the occasion to mark the 60th independence day, the national flag was hoisted at the gram panchayat premises yesterday. However, the villagers found that the flag was unfurled the wrong way.

The villagers held Kumbhar responsible for the incident and he has been booked in this regard, police added.
