Five-year-old killed in accident, minor injured

Guwahati, Aug 16 (UNI) A five-year-old girl was mowed down by a speeding trekker in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh town today.

Police said three children - Rinki(5), Deepak(6) and Pinky(4) - were playing near a road in front of their residence in Shantipur when the trekker hit both Rinki and Deepak and dragged them few metres before ramming into a truck.

Rinki was crushed between the vehicles and died on the spot.

Deepak was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police have arrested the owner of the trekker, while the driver was reportedly absconding.
