Fernandes stripped of her 2 posts after resignation imbroglio

Panaji, Aug 16 (UNI) Victoria Fernandes, the lone woman Congress legislator who did a volte-face by withdrawing her resignation to the legislative assembly 20 days after she caused a political storm threatening the survival of Digambar Kamat government, was today stripped of her two posts with immediate effect.

She was holding the post of one of the three parliamentary secretaries with cabinet rank last month, besides chairperson of the loss-making state-owned Kadamba Road Transport Corporation Limited (KTC).

In a quid pro quo to her resignation drama and its withdrawal later, the government acted quickly by relieving her of the two posts.

Transport Minister Pandurang Madkaikar will now take care of the KTC till alternative arrangements are made, said an official source here this evening.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has allotted the PWD and Science and Technology portfolios to Save Goa Front supremo Churchill Alemao, who was inducted into the cabinet on August 14 following the withdrawal of his party from the Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA) and his support to the government.
