New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) A high-powered delegation of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), led by its president Rambabu Sharma, today met Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna and sought that the MCD be superseded in view of the violent incidents in the MCD house on Monday.

The delegation, that included former Union Minister and MP Jagdish Tytler, leader of the Opposition in the MCD Jaikishen Sharma and several office bearers of the DPCC, said the violent incidents of Monday had caused irreparable damage to the civic body's image.

In the annals of the MCD's long history, such an unruly behaviour by the ruling party councillors over the opposition has never been witnessed, the delegation said and alleged that the BJP councillors adopted the policy of ''might is our right'' to stifle the voice of the people's representatives of other political parties whenever they tried to raise the issues of problems faced by the common man of Delhi.

The delegation said that the MCD,under BJP rule, had lost all moral and ethical rights to continue in power. They requested the Lt Governor to exercise his powers and recommend the Home Ministry to supersede the MCD ''so that communal forces are not allowed to take the law in their own hands and stifle the voice of dissent inside the House''.
