Blueline case: HC issues notice to Delhi govt
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Delhi Government on an application by the amicus curiae in the Blueline buses accidents case, stating that despite being given the green signal by the transport department, 812 buses were challaned for various violations, including 12 buses for speeding.
These buses were examined by the transport department and given the fitness certificate to ply on the roads last month but the police found many discrepencies and issued challans to them.
The application filed by Anoop J Bhambhani submitted that the violations amounted to contempt of court. He urged the Court to summon counterfoils of the challans and other records pertaining to these buses so that they could be prosecuted. He submitted that these buses were found violating the guidelines and challaned for the same between July 21 and August 1.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Mukul Mudgal and P K Bhasin asked the State Government to file a reply to the petition by August 23.
