BJP criticises HP Govt for tardy rehabilitation work
Mandi, Aug 16 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former MP Maheshwar Singh criticised the government for the ''slow pace of relief and rehabilitation measures'' for the victims of recent rain and flash floods which caused havoc in the region.
Addressing a news conference here, he said that when he visited the Ambedkar Nagar in Sundernagar yesterday, he was shocked that immediate financial relief had not been given to the victims of flood water.
He attributed the tragedy to wrong mining policy allowing the mining of sand from the banks of the river.
Replying to a question, he said the Himalayan Ski Village was an ''ill-conceived project'' and a virtual sell out of the interests of the local people.
