Puducherry, Aug 16(UNI) AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan today demanded that the government should not permit any more private medical colleges in the Union Territory at a time when it could not obtain 50 per cent seats in the existing colleges here.

Talking to newspersons here, he said, the government should permit new colleges only after introducing an Act, favouring 50 per cent seats for the government.

Mr Anbazhagan criticised the Chief Minister N Rangasamy for twisting the facts on his Independence Day message and added that some schemes, which still remained on paper had been highlighted as implemented and the statistics given in certain others were wrong.

Mr Anbazhagan said the Chief Minister had claimed to have obtained 39 per cent more as annual plan allocation for 2007-08 compared to last year, whereas, the facts remained that only less than four per cent enhancement was effected by the Planning Commission. While different states had obtained upto 40 per cent enhancement in annual plan allocation, less than four per cent for Puducherry proved the ''inefficency'' of Mr Rangasamy, he alleged.

Disputing several other statements of Mr Rangasamy in his address, Mr Anbazhagan said the funds allocated for the provision of Rs 2.30 lakh each to the tsunami affected fishermen were now diverted to construct houses for them only in Kalapet area, thereby showing a partisan attitude to the Constituencies here.

AIADMK, with the permision of the High Command, would organise agitations against injustice, he added.
