Agri Dept to set up 1,000 'Onam' markets

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 16 (UNI) More than 1,000 fair markets will be set up during 'Onam' festival to contain the hike in the prices of vegetables, Agriculutre Minister Mullakara Ratnakaran said today.

Talking to newspersons here, the Minister said about 1,50,000 'Onam' kits, containing vegetables and other essential commodities worth Rs 100, would be distributed by the Horticorp at a subsidised rate.

He said these markets would function from August 24 to 26.
