2 killed, over 24 injured in bus-truck collision
Allahabad, Aug 16 (UNI) At least two people were killed and over 24 sustained grievous injuries after an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus dashed against a truck near Mungari crossing here today.
The bus, en route from Varanasi Cantonment to Kanpur, rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction in Naini area, leading to the death of two passengers on the spot.
The injured, including the bus driver, were admitted to the famous Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Medical College, where the condition of one was said to be serious.
Owing to the huge rush of 'kanwarias' at Allahabad-Varanasi highway these days, heavy vehicles have to ply towards Allahabad on the Mirzapur route.
Due to poor roads, the Allahabad-Varanasi highway witnesses massive traffic snarl. Recently, three 'kanwarias' were crushed under the wheels of a speeding truck near Hanumanganj on the same route.
