Virbhadra promises support to cloudburst victims
Shimla, Aug 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today carried out an aerial survey of the cloud burst affected Ghanvi village in Rampur Sub Division of this district to assess the extent of damage caused.
Later, in an official statement, the Chief Minister said on getting the information, SDM Rampur rushed to the spot along with rescue and medical teams to provide relief and rehabilitation to affected families on a war footing.
He said the district administration was camping in the village to oversee the relief operations. He said tarpaulin, utensils, foodstuff and clothes were being made available to affected families and added that more relief was being rushed to village.
Mr Singh said the state government would provide relief as per the revised Relief Manual so that families are rehabilitated suitably. He said washed away houses would also be constructed so as to provide proper shelter well before the onset of winter season.
He said close monitoring of relief operations were being carried out by senior officers and best efforts were being made to help the victims of the tragedy.
Mrs Pratibha Singh, MP also accompanied the Chief Minister and expressed her grief over the tragedy.
