Virbhadra for adequate rehabilitation package

Shimla, Aug 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that his Government would protect the interests of people who had given their land for construction of hydel power projects in the state and would ensure that best rehabilitation package for them.

Speaking in a function organised at Kinnaur district last evening, the Chief Minister said his Government had made 70 per cent employment mandatory to the local people in hydel projects as well as industrial projects. He said his Government was monitoring employment condition closely and taking effective steps to ensure the same.

Mr Singh urged the people of the area to cooperate with project authorities who were doing great service towards nation by generating electricity which was basic necessity.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister dedicated Tapri bridge over river Satluj to the people of the state and laid the foundation stones of Himachal Chiktsa Kendra at Sholtu besides ITI at Urni in Kinnaur district of the state.
