Punjab govt declares martyrs villages as 'model grams'

Ludhiana, Aug 15 (UNI) The Punjab government has decided to develop the native villages of all martyrs of the freedom movement as 'Model Villages'.

Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal announced that these villages would be provided all the basic facilities of sewerage, sanitation, drinking water, roads, schools etc, while paying tributes to Karnail Singh at his native village Isru near here today.

Karnail Singh had sacrificed his life in the liberation of Goa.

Mr Badal also announced that families of martyrs would be accorded full respect and financial assistance if needed by the government.

Cooperatives minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh said that Karnail Singh was a brave son of the country, who voluntary sacrificed his life while leading a peaceful march to liberate Goa.
