Minister raises fine amount to release prisoners

Mysore, Aug 15 (UNI) As many as 14 prisoners, languishing in the Central Jail as they were unable to pay the fine amount imposed by the Court for various offences, were released today, thanks to the gesture of Karnataka Cooperative Minister G T Deve Gowda.

Mr Gowda, who is also Mysore District In-charge Minister, visited the Jail after hoisting the Tricolour on the 60th Independence Day and remitted Rs 1,65,900 towards fine amount got all the 14 released.

The Minister had raised the amount through contribution and collection from his friends.

Later, he advised the released prisoners to lead an honourable life.
