Lal Chowk, nerve centre of Srinagar remained out of bounds
Srinagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital, Srinagar, remained out of bounds for the civilians throughout the day today.
CRPF had sealed the entire area from Biscoe school to Gurdwara chowk, including Lal Chowk where Inspector General of CRPF hoisted the national tricolour this morning.
''We have orders not to allow anybody to enter the area,'' said a CRPF jawan standing guard near a bank crossing.
People, who had to reach other side of the Lal Chowk, had to take longer alternative route through the Jhelum embankment.
A large number of people, who were waiting outside the cordoned off area, had to return disappointed after they were sent back by the CRPF personnel.
Residents of the Lal Chowk, Court roads and nearby localities told mediapersons on phone that their relatives were not allowed to visit them. They complained of shortage of milk and bread.
