Saharsa, Aug 15 (UNI) A special team of Bihar police today rescued seven-year-old Saurabh from the clutches of his kidnappers at Diara area near here.

District Police Superintendent Kunwar Singh said acting on a tip off that the boy was kept in a hideout on the outskirts of the town by the members of notorious Chabia Lahan gang, who abducted Saurav five days ago.

The special police team raided the house early this morning and rescued Saurav, who was later handed over to his parents.

Saurav's parents thanked the police as well as media for leaving their's son's rescue, that coincided with the country's 60th anniversary of Independence.

They also claimed that no ransom was paid for Saurabh's release.

Saurabh was kidnapped and was whisked away in a red Maruti van on August 10 while he was playing with some of his friends near his house.

But police immediately swung into action and launched a massive hunt to rescue the child.

Incidentally, the recent spate in abduction of school children in Bihar had caused a lot of concern within the state administration forcing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to direct the state police to do everything to rescue the children and take stern action against the criminal gangs to help improve the dwindling image of the state.

More than 150 children have so far been abducted by miscreants in the state this year of whom only about 12 were rescued, while ten others were found to be murdered under different circumstances.
