Karunanidhi showing hatred towards PMK: Ramadoss

Chennai, Aug 15: Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), which is providing outside support to the DMK government, today accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi of showing hatred towards the party. PMK founder S Ramadoss, reacting to Mr Karunanidhi's remarks that time has come to review the situation (the relations with the PMK) for its oft-repeated criticism of the government, more vociferously on the Titanium di-oxide project, said his statement only betrayed his hatred towards the PMK.

On Mr Karuananidhi's remarks that by intimidating the government that party was trying to develop its base, Dr Ramadoss said, ''which political party is not interested in expanding its base? '' ''Is the DMK not interested in expanding its base? Is the DMK not interested in it,'' he asked.

The allegation that the PMK was raising its voice for the poor to expand its base only showed the Chief Minister's hatred for the PMK, he said adding that though Mr Karunanidhi had not mentioned him by name, people would know very well that he was blaming him, since he had visited the people in Sholinganallur to reassure them that their houses would not be demolished by the Housing Board.

''I told them to take away the keys of the bulldozers if the authorities went ahead with the demolition. Any leader would have said this. Had he not been in power, even the Chief Minister would have used the same words,'' he said.

Denying that he was instigating violence, Dr Ramadoss drew the Chief Minister's attention to the killing of six people in Tenkasi yesterday, and said the state was witnessing such incidents every day.

''It was unbecoming of a Chief Minister like Mr Karunanidhi, who had completed Golden Jubilee in the State Assembly to accuse the political parties of taking up people's issues to expand their base,''he said.

''I don't expect such a reaction from Mr Karunanidhi,'' he added.
